The Advocate of the Year Award honors an individual who has shown extraordinary commitment to advocacy and research to support the rights of trafficking survivors. Edith Wong is a Managing Director in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice of FTI Consulting, based in New York. Earlier this year, the Human Trafficking Legal Center contacted FTI to request forensic accounting assistance on a pro bono case. Edith volunteered to assist and applied her extensive litigation consulting and forensic accounting skills. In a matter of days, she developed detailed financial analyses for multiple victims of sex trafficking, conducted interviews with the survivors, and drafted compelling expert reports to be filed with the court. She did all of this work on an extremely truncated schedule, turning drafts around in a matter of hours. Her excellent pro bono work will likely lead to significant criminal restitution for victims who otherwise might have received no compensation.
